Launching in January 2026, FareVet is expanding into the UK to meet growing demand for clearer veterinary pricing and easier cost comparison, starting with high-frequency services and practical estimate clarity.

UK pet owners are facing a familiar frustration: you can know what your pet needs, but still struggle to get a clear sense of what it will likely cost until you are already deep in the process. That gap between the medical decision and the financial decision creates stress, delays, and often, regret.

FareVet is built to close that gap.

Why the UK, why now

The UK is one of the largest pet markets in Europe. In 2024, the PDSA estimated around 10.6 million pet dogs and 10.8 million pet cats across the country. When price clarity is missing, even small friction points scale into a huge national issue.

At the same time, pricing transparency in veterinary care is now a major public topic. The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has been investigating the veterinary services market since 2023, highlighting concerns about how easily pet owners can access and compare key information, including pricing. The CMA also reported tens of thousands of responses to its public call for input, a signal of how widespread these concerns are among pet owners and professionals.

Cost pressures are also real. The CMA’s published working papers reference ONS-linked inflation analysis showing substantial increases in the “veterinary and other services for pets” price index over the last decade. The direction is clear: the market is getting more expensive, and the need for clarity is rising with it.

What FareVet will bring to the UK in January 2026

FareVet is a cost transparency and price comparison platform already used by thousands of pet owners in North America to make sense of quotes, compare typical costs, and find alternatives when pricing varies widely.

For the UK launch, FareVet is focused on transparency that actually helps decision-making, not fake precision.

1) Compare prices for common, high-demand services

We will start with services where publishing clear ranges, inclusions, and context can meaningfully reduce confusion, especially for routine and frequently requested care.

2) Faster discovery of clinics that publish pricing

Pet owners should not have to hunt across dozens of pages to find a consultation fee, neuter price, dental range, or emergency surcharge. FareVet will make “findable pricing” easier.

3) Explain the cost drivers behind a quote

Veterinary care is not a fixed menu. FareVet will highlight the most common factors that change an estimate, for example diagnostics, urgency, weight, aftercare, and medication, so pet owners can ask better questions earlier and clinics can set expectations faster.

The goal is not cheaper care, it is informed care

Most pet owners are not asking for the lowest price. They are asking for clarity:

  • What is the typical range for this service in my area?

  • What is included, and what will be extra?

  • What are the biggest drivers that could change the quote?

  • What alternatives exist if the quote is out of reach?

Transparency builds trust. Clinics that communicate pricing clearly reduce friction, reduce repetitive front-desk calls, and reduce the chance of surprise bills that damage long-term relationships.

Early access for pet owners, early partners for clinics

Ahead of the January 2026 public rollout, FareVet is opening early access in the UK for:

  • Pet owners who want clearer pricing and fewer surprises

  • Clinics that want to lead on transparency and reduce repetitive pricing calls
